Baby Oil

What Is Baby Oil

One of the most versatile materials in use today is baby oil. Baby oil is essentially just mineral oil, which is the main ingredient in baby oil, with some fragrance added. Mineral oil is a by product of the petroleum industry and is made in huge quantities which makes baby oil very inexpensive. After the petroleum making process mineral oil is left over, this is then made into baby oil. Baby oil is made from mineral oil. Baby oil is an emollient so it softens skin and traps moisture in the skin but is very gentle. Baby oil has a very water like density so it goes on easily. Baby oil is commonly used on babies after a bath to protect their soft skin but baby oil can also be used for many other things.

Uses For Baby Oil

One of the most popular uses of baby oil is using baby oil as a massage oil. Using baby oil for massage is cheap and baby oil is easy to find. It’s also easy to add a few drops of perfume or fragrance oil to a bottle of inexpensive baby oil to make customized massage oil. Everyone loves massages, and some child psychologists say that even infants can benefit from a massage with baby oil. Baby oil can be used on hair to make it soft and shiny. Baby oil can be used when tanning to help encourage a healthy tan and to protect the skin. Baby oil can be used for cleaning up silver and stainless steel. Wiping off stainless steel appliances and silver faucets and sinks with baby oil will leave them shiny and looking brand new. Baby oil also can brighten up dull metal picture frames. Baby oil can be used on eyelashes to prevent brittleness and/or breaking. Some people have found success using mineral oil to remove henna used as a hair dye. But the most common uses of baby oil are as a skin emollient and a massage oil.

What Are The Best Baby Oil Brands

The most popular baby oil brand is Johnsons baby oil. Johnsons baby oil can be found in any drugstore and many grocery stores. Playtex creamy baby oil is also very popular because it has the same skin protection value as baby oil but it is not greasy and goes on like a lotion or body butter instead of as an oil.
