Bottle Brushes

Cleaning your baby’s bottles thoroughly is very important. Sometimes washing bottles is not enough. Bottle brushes are a great way to get into the places in a baby bottle that most need cleaning. A baby bottle brush is a soft bristled brush with a long handle. Some bottle cleaning brushes also have a smaller brush attached for cleaning nipples. This is called a bottle and teat brush.

Make sure that your bottle brush is kept aside and used only for cleaning bottles. A baby bottle brush should never be used for any other purpose because of the risk of spreading bacteria from brush to bottle.

You can clean your bottle brushes by soaking them in hot soapy water and rinsing them thoroughly. Some bottle brushes can even be boiled or run through the dishwasher for extra sterilization.

What Type Of Bottle Brush Is Best?

Bottle brushes come in all shapes and sizes. The best bottle brush for you is the one that best cleans the type of baby bottles that you use.

A large bottle brush is best for cleaning large bottles, or just the plastic cylinders of most bottles. Make sure that your large bottle brush has soft bristles so that it will fit into and clean your bottles.

A narrow bottle brush is best for cleaning smaller narrower bottles, or for cleaning nipples. Narrow bottle brushes that fit into bottle nipples are extremely useful because they serve a dual purpose.

When buying bottle brushes, you want to get a fine-bristle bottle brush. Fine bristle brushes do not scratch the plastic cylinders of your bottles. They are also better at getting off dried milk and other particles. It is also good to look for a plastic handle bottle brush. Bottle brushes with plastic handles last longer and are easier to clean than those with wooden handles.

A deluxe suction bottle brush is a smart buy because you can suction it to your sink for easy use. Just make sure that food and other debris does not come in contact with the bottle brush. It is a good idea to suction the bottle brush to a lesser used corner of your sink.

A miniature bottle brush is great for travel. You do not want to have to pack a large bottle brush in your luggage when traveling. A miniature bottle brush is also good to pack in your diaper bag for cleaning bottles when you are out and about. A mini brush may also be great for cleaning bottle nipples.
