Travel
Depending on where and how you travel will dictate the preparations you must make with your baby. Baby travel can be fraught with troubles and snafus, but by preparing for as many contingencies as possible, you can have a fairly smooth trip.
Now air travel with an infant can be tricky. There are certain rules about what you can and cannot bring on board such as a car seat or what you have to check in. If you have an infant, you might want to invest in an infant flight vest. This is similar to those baby carriers or slings you wear on your person. Infant air travel also dictates that you might want to not check your stroller with your baggage. Rather, check it at the gate before you board so that is will be stowed in front and can be unloaded first so that you have it ready when you disembark from the plane.
Baby air travel does not necessarily mean that you must pay for an extra seat for your child. Children two and under can sit on a parent’s lap. However, you might consider a seat if the flight will be long. When you book a flight via Expedia, look at reserved seats and flights with infants. When you book an Expedia flight, time of travel is important. A reserved seat for an infant could even be purchased for half price.
Say for instance, that you plan air travel with your infant to Brazil. This would be a likely time to reserve an infant seat for your trip. And traveling with an infant, especially for long distances means that you have to come prepared. Diapers, wipes, extra changes of clothing, food, bottles, formula and entertainment like books and toys are needed.
Air travel with baby means extra paraphernalia you normally wouldn’t worry about. Luckily, you can find baby travel gear at a number of travel or children’s stores to make your life easier and more organized. If possible, see if you can check a baby travel swing onto the plane. These travel versions are smaller and could easily be set up in an aisle or empty seat.
Besides the personal stuff you need for baby like diapers and bottles, the baby stroller and travel gear is important. Getting across airports can be tiring while carrying your baby as well as all the bags. That is why checking your stroller at the gate rather than with baggage is highly suggested.
